Facts about Obi

  • Breed: Doberman Pinscher
  • Color: Brown/Chocolate - With Tan
  • Age: Young
  • Size: Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
  • Sex: Male
Obi is a super special boy who needs an amazing home! He is about 8 months old now and we know him really well because he has been in foster homes for several months. When Obi landed in the animal shelter as a puppy he was on death's doorstep but their wonderful medical staff took great care of him and he survived. He was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Osteodystrophy which is a bone disorder found in fast growing, large breed puppies. Loving care, supplements and proper nutrition has helped Obi greatly but we highly recommend that any potential adopters research the condition and talk to their vet. He is in much better shape, gets around perfectly, and can walk several miles but his back legs still show the effects of the disorder. We believe that physical therapy and a continued regimen of supplements will help him continue to grow properly. Obi also has a bit of a deformed skull which causes it to be lopsided but it causes no medical or behavioral issues. He is extremely smart, eager to please, housebroken and already has some training under his belt. He can be dominant with some male dogs so we want to see him in a home with a playful female that he can bond with because we don't see him being happy as an only dog. Obi can also be cautious with some new people entering his home or car so proper introductions and further socialization will help him improve. This boy is full of so much potential and he is truly a sweetheart even though the young troublemaker in him needs some work and proper guidance. He is in a foster home in southern California but he will be at the rescue in Fillmore for adoptions on Saturdays. About Dobies and Little Paws Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a non-profit, no-kill rescue/sanctuary specializing in dobermans but also rescuing small dogs. Most of our dogs come from animal shelters before they are euthanized and are given a second chance at a new home.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are located on a small ranch nestled in the orchards of Fillmore, ca. We are open every saturday from 11:00am-3:00pm for open house adoptions. We can arrange weekday or sunday visits by appointment as well.

Our Adoption Process...

We ask that you bring the whole family (including the four legged) so we can best match you with the right dog. Once you have found your new companion we will have you fill out a one page adoption agreement. We ask a donation of $200-$250 for a doberman and $150 for a little dog. All dogs go home spayed or neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, with a collar, ID tag, and de-wormer.
