Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This girl came to us from an animal shelter but she had clearly been thru an ordeal. Mystique had stitches, staples, and a major limp so she went directly to the vet. We still don't know what kind of trauma took place but we think she was probably attacked by a wild animal or another dog, taken to a vet for treatment, and somehow ended up as a stray. We had her back leg x-rayed which revealed an old break that healed a while ago and the worst dysplasia our vet had ever seen in one hip. FHO surgery was necessary to release her pain and she has been rehabbing ever since as well as getting over an upper respiratory infection. The good news is that Mystique is finally all healed up and we think she is ready to find a home!! She loves people so we can definitely see her as a family dog (though we haven't seen her around really small kids). She can be slightly nervous around new dogs but she enjoys their company once she feels safe. We are not recommending her for a home with cats, small dogs or other small animals because she does have a prey drive that can't be trusted when left alone. Mystique is a good girl, well behaved in the house, and gorgeous with a full, dark blue coat though she still needs to gain a few pounds. She isn't compatible for people who are looking for a running buddy or long distance hiking but walks around the neighborhood are fine and she is perfectly mobile around the house (including stairs) and yard. She is only about 3 years old with plenty of life ahead of her so we hope to find a home that will make it a happy one!
