Hi! My name is Duncan. The shelter humans have asked me to tell you a little bit about myself. So, here is the story of me!

I think I had a home once. I'm pretty sure it was a lovely place. I remember being happy. No one knows for sure what happened to me but I was found wandering around a rural neighborhood by a nice man. He said he loved me but he couldn't keep me so I had to go to something called a Humane Society. At the Humane Society I was greeted by people who gave me a quick physical, despite my protests that I was perfectly healthy! After that I sat in a kennel. And I sat, and sat, and sat.

One day I got word from the Food Human at the Humane Society that I had been selected to go live with the Humane Society's sister, No-kill Shelter. I wasn't sure who this No-kill lady was but I was happy to meet my new mom! Well, the joke was on me because my "new mom" was really just another shelter! I was totally bummed when I first got off the van and saw the brick building. But then I went inside and my whole attitude changed! This place is awesome (they call it SWAC)! I have air conditioning, food, my own spacious kennel, and a lot of friends!

Now, about ME! I am very energetic, super sweet, and the SWAC humans tell me I'm a little crazy. I love to jump! I can jump higher than anyone else at the shelter! I absolutely love toys and am happy to share. Nothing makes me happier than being outside where I can run and play. If you try to put me in a pen and ingnore me I will scream until you let me out. Don't ignore me! I need your full undivided attention always. I mean, I deserve it! Oh, and my long luxurious locks? They will need some grooming. I like to be brushed and bathed. It's good one-on-one time! A nice trim down in the summer is good, too. Did you know they tell me it's like 100 degrees outside?! I'm so thankful for air conditioning! So, now you know the story of me-- Duncan, in case you forgot. Won't you help give me my happily ever after?

If you would like to meet me, call my secretary to schedule a meeting at.... Just Kidding! Ha ha! Come visit me any time at the shelter! I'll clear my schedule! You can go online to to complete the adoption application. If  you'd like ask the shelter humans questions, call 229-299-4504 or email!

About Sally Wetherbee Adoption Center

About Our Shelter...

SWAC is a no-kill shelter that runs off of generous donations and volunteers. We pull dogs and cats from the Albany Humane Society. Once they arrive at SWAC they will stay here until they are adopted. Our state of the art facility includes all indoor, air conditioned kennels, a grassy play yard, two cat colony rooms, and a meet- and- greet patio! Every dogs gets ample time to play with his or her four-legged friends and volunteers every day! Our cats and kittens live in colonies instead of cages which allows them to be socialized as well.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are located at 2223 Dawson Road in Albany, Georgia. Our building is directly across from Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church. We are open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 11-6 and Thursday and Friday from 11-7. Stop by to see our amazing residents!

Our Adoption Process...

All applicants must complete our rigorous screening process including a vet reference check and home inspection (depending on animal). We require that all of our animals remain on preventatives and receive yearly vaccines after adoption. Once the application has been approved, the adopter must sign a contract agreeing to maintain the health and well-being of the animal at their expense for the remainder of the animals natural life. Our adoption fee is $120 for every animal in the shelter. We ask that you bring a leash and harness or a crate to transport dogs and all cats must be in a carrier.
