My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dixie is a well trained 4 year old purebred Australian Cattle Dog. Unlike many Cattle Dogs she is outgoing and friendly to new people she meets. She was a house dog as well as a working Cattle Dog on her home ranch.

Her bloodlines have been a part of a Texas and Tennessee family who have raised these dogs to herd cattle on their ranch since 1951. These dogs were bred to herd while still being a part of the family. NOT your typical Cattle Dogs! The family is no longer breeding these dogs and chose CTHDR to help them place these puppies as well as the Mom. Adoption applications being taken immediately-these dogs have not been in a shelter and came to us by private transportation.

Dixie has been around children all of her life and is a medium energy dog who will load up in your vehicle for a ride or follow you to go hiking on the trails. Afterward she is content to sit at your feet while you read or watch TV. She is house trained, crate trained and knows basic obedience commands. She gets fired up while herding and would make a willing partner for agility. Dixie will herd cats, so dog savvy cats only. She can be standoffish with other dogs, but we are working on her meet and greet skills with them.

Dixie has been spayed, is up to date on vaccines and is Heart worm negative and on flea/tick and Heart worm prevention.
