Buddie is looking for someone to love. This sweet boy is terrified having to navigate the world alone, and so desperately wants someone to love. This poor boy will shake with fear when you first meet him, but give him time and he will climb into the security of your loving arms. Buddie is good with other dogs, and older kids. We aren't sure where he came from but we are happy to help get him on the path to happiness. Buddie will need a very patient and calm home where he can warm up in his own time and will likely need a good structured system to build his lack of confidence. An adoptive home must have a fully fenced, secure yard and be willing to take it slow with him. Having another confident and calm dog in the home is also a must, as he finds comfort in other dogs. Buddie is crate trained and will need to have someone continue to offer him the safety and retreat of his crate for when the world is too much to handle. His adoption fee is $150. About Community Animal Welfare Society

About Our Rescue Group...

Founded in 1992 the Community Animal Welfare Society ( CAWS) is one of the oldest no-kill animal rescues in Utah. Over the last 20 years CAWS, our fosters and supporters have saved thousands of lives including over 600 last this year. As the largest foster home network in the state of Utah we focus on high risk pets in need of additional care and rehabilitation

Come Meet Our Pets...

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.

Our Adoption Process...

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at, email or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.
