Hi everyone my name is Piper.  I am a fun loving lab mix puppy that cannot wait to find my forever family. I am 5 months old, about 35 lbs., and I have already had all my shots and I have been spayed!

She doesn't know how she ended up in a scary shelter but is dreaming of long walks, trips to the dog parks and maybe even doggy daycare, and cuddling up with you on the couch. She is a young energetic pup and can't wait to learn new tricks and become the smartest pup on the block.

Because Piper is so young, she will need someone to keep an eye on her during the day, so if you work a 9-5 job outside the home, she may not be the best fit for you at this time. If you're interested in taking this sweet gal home though, we ask that you can provide proof of a multi-times a day dog walker so that she is able to get out and about while you're gone.

Piper is good with other dogs so she’d be a great addition to an existing pack or happy to soak up all the attention as an only dog! We haven’t had a chance to see her interact with kids or cats yet, so if you have them just let us know, and we’ll do our best to find out!

Like most puppies, Piper will need to work on her housetraining. She will also need to go to puppy kindergarten to get lots of treats for doing good things like sitting and growing into a well-socialized dog.

Foster Update 10/9 --

Piper is doing great!  She has overcome most of her shyness.  She will approach strangers to get pet.  She is friendly with all people and dogs.  She can hold her own with bigger dogs, or play gently with littler dogs,
Piper melts everyone's heart!  She is the hugest snuggle-bug,  She LOVES cuddling!!  She is a shadow-dog - she wants to follow you everywhere - but she doesn't have separation anxiety.  She is immensely patient, and doesn't mind being crated (though she'd rather cuddle on the bed with you!).  During the days, I am home many days, but some days I crate her for a few hours.
She loves walks.  She walks right by your side most of the time, but when she walks ahead, she has the cutest little sashay in her step, like a prance.  She's just so sweet and happy!
She loves squeaky toys, and she does this funny thing where she whimpers as she squeaks it!
She's great with kids, super gentle even with very little ones.  She's good with the cat, though the cat will sometimes walk up to her and then hiss at her - completely unjustified!
While living here, she has learned to walk up and down steps, she has done great with house-training, but still needs to be watched (sometimes she'll wander away and have an accident in another room).  When we go outside, she immediately squats to pee every time, and poops quickly, too, but now I make sure she pees several times before we go back inside.

The adoption fee for this dog is $400, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to  Donna at!

About Lucky Dog Animal Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a group of highly motivated and highly dedicated volunteers. We spend countless hours making sure that wonderful dogs find loving forever homes. We don't do it for money -- we do it for the joy a dog can bring to its new family; we do it for our love of animals; and we do it to save lives!

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at

Our Adoption Process...

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!
