Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, I am Buttons the beag, and cute as a button I believe.
Let me tell you a little about myself. I spent my 1st year in a puppy mill. But then the great folks at BREW rescued me and put me in what they call a foster home so I could learn to be a real beag.
I am doing very well. I got the housetraining aspect down quickly.
I stay in my crate during the day. But at night I don’t have to sleep in my crate. I just find an open pillow or blanket on the floor, and curl up for the night.
In the evenings while you are watching TV, I like to curl up on the couch, they are soooo comfy.
We go on a lot of car rides to the dog park. I just sit on the back seat or stand up and watch the world go by. I won’t get in by myself, so you have to lift me in.
Foster daddy is able to put his hand in my food bowl, take away treats and other things I shouldn’t have in my mouth, and it does not bother me. Foster daddy says I do have what he calls a puppy mouth, so you have to keep an eye on me or I might chew on something I shouldn’t.
He feeds us all together and I don’t try to take anyones food.
The best thing I have discovered is squeaky toys. I love to run around with one in my mouth, and toss it around. We have a toy box and I get my own toys out. I am somewhat of a toy hog, and toy possessive though with other dogs.
We have a fenced in yard here to run around in, but foster daddy still ties me out front to keep me used to that. And I don’t mind, and will do my business on the tie out. I also do well when we go for a walk.
I get along with my foster sisters. Lately I have even been laying by, or on, my one foster sister when we are on the couch together.
I don’t like to play chase or wrestle with them though. I would be a good buddy for another dog, but if you are looking for a playmate, that is not me.
I would do fine as an only dog because my FAVORITE thing is people. I just need to be by you and have my chest scratched, 24/7 if you will do it. I have become comfortable in my foster home and run around play, and love to be by foster mommy and daddy. When they come home from work, I get so excited and run around doing a little dance trying to get attention. I know what the sound of the garage door is and start barking when I hear it.
And if they go somewhere I can’t be by them, like out in the garage, I will sometimes whine and bark to be by them.
BUT I am still nervous around new people and situations. So even though I will eventually be one of the lovingest girls you have ever met, you need to be willing to give me some time and space, and be very patient while I become comfortable in your home. And be able to not feel bad if I keep my distance from you until I get to know you. You will also have to be extra cautious with my safety during this time.
If you think I am the girl for you, and are willing to be patient while I find my comfort zone with you, please get your phone out and push the buttons to call BREW, and ask about Buttons.
