My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rusty ~ "ADOPTION PENDING": 4.5 years old, Red Stag (Rust) male, cropped tail and ears, 10 lbs and 11..5". Shots up-to-date, released from shelter via vet that found him.

This handsome, love bug, young man is looking for a home all his own where he can spend many more years being loved. Rusty’s nickname is “glue stick” as he would love to sit on your lap ALL DAY. Belly rubs are one of his favorite past times so beware... Rusty will get along with other dogs but would prefer to be the lone dog (more attention for him). He is a real snuggle bug and only issue is if another dog gets near him when he is sleeping (he will growl). As with most min pins he is very treat motivated and will come running when called.
We are unsure of the events that took place, but Rusty came to us with a laceration to his right eye. He was found as a stray by an animal control officer and taken to the local vet. He was treated by the vet and then turned over to IMPS as the local shelter could not take him due to the healing of his eye. The vet that treated his eye gave him a clean bill of health and was able to save the eye. He was unfortunately unable to save his vision. After a few months in foster care his eye is healed and he is doing great. We continue to evaluate his left eye for vision as he adjusts to the loss of vision in his right eye. We believe he has some vision in his left eye but does still run into stuff.
Rusty is one of the sweetest Min Pins I have ever fostered. Rusty would love to find a home with an older person that would allow him to snuggle under the covers at night. He can be quite the couch potato when he wants to be. A quite home or apartment would be perfect for him. If you are looking for a companion, please consider Rusty. I know he would love to meet you!

Note: Rusty is located in CA in the Sacramento area - and we will not fly this boy.
