  • Color: White
  • Age: Young
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Female
Portia came to CARE on Jan. 17, 2015 from an area shelter with horrific skin disease and parasites of all varieties. Her skin infection was due to two mites, known as demodex and sarcoptic mange. Additionally, she was diagnosed with heartworm disease, fleas, and a heavy intestinal parasite load. After some weeks of intense treatment, she completely recovered and was happily adopted. However, she was returned to the CARE program through no fault of her own in July 2016. Portia is a happy, healthy, house-trained, loving dog – she would love to join your forever family! If you’re looking for a special running buddy who also gives the BEST kisses, stop by and say hi to Portia today!

About Companion Animal Rescue Endeavor

About Our Rescue Group...

We are Tallahassee’s only non-profit organization that is dedicated to the rescue, treatment, and rehabilitation of sick and injured companion animals. We are here to provide medical and surgical care to sick and injured companion animals that would otherwise be euthanized without this care.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our animals would love to meet you anytime Monday through Friday from 9am-4pm. If that does not work for your schedule, please contact us at (850) 385-8181 to discuss availability of an appointment outside of regular hours (availability of evening/weekend appointments varies).

Our Adoption Process...

At the time of adoption, all CARE pets are healthy, spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, FIV/FeLV negative (cats only), heartworm test negative (or undergoing heartworm treatment if stated), and current on heartworm & flea prevention. The adoption application is available on our website at While there is no application fee, a minimum adoption donation is required for each pet (amount varies with severity of injuries treated while in CARE, please see the website for details).
