Monte was adopted as a puppy and through no fault of his own he found himself back in the rescue system because with his owners busy work schedule they just didn't have enough time for him anymore, which wasn't fair to Monte.
Monte can be a real love bug once he trusts you ... he enjoys going for walks and loves to hang out; he loves lounging together on the couch too!
Monte is starting to settle into the routine of his foster home and is adjusting to his new surroundings. He can be shy and reserved when he first meets someone... but once he gets to know you, he becomes a real snuggle boy!
For Monte, an ideal potential adopter would be someone who has only one dog … too many dogs can cause Monte to become anxious because of having to sort out his place in the pack. Someone home most of the day would be best as he has some separation anxiety (however, he is not destructive). He is doing fine in the special Vari Kennel from MARS and can't hurt himself in that.
Someone who could take him running would be great as he has long legs and needs exercise to release some of his pent up anxiety. He will need to be with an experienced dog person that is a strong pack leader and understands dog body language. He is a sweet boy that craves his humans attention. He just wants to be touched and snuggled whenever possible.
Monte doesn't realize his size so older children would be best with him.
At this time we don't know how he is around cats.
