Dougal's Story...
This 11 month Old English Sheepdog mix was owner surrendered to our rescue as his owners lived in a small apt and could not take care of him. He is 53 lbs and skinny, and he could easily put on 15-20 lbs and look a lot better. He is a really nice puppy, loves to play and run with the other dogs. He can run and jump a 6 ft fence very easily and will need an experienced owner and preferably one who has owned this breed before, as they need a lot of grooming and maintenance. He is not suitable for an apt and will need a very secure yard. He seems to be pretty well leash and housetrained and loves to ride in the car. He could do with some basic obedience training and a friend to play with as he will do better not being an only dog

The total adoption donation of $700 and includes the required interstate health certificate and transport , spay/neuter, shots including rabies, bordatella, parvo, lepto, distemper and canine influenza, and micro chip with a lifetime pre paid registration. The total amount is payable to Shaggy Dog Rescue which is a 501c3. We also provide a coupon for a free wellness visit to the South Wilton Vet group if convenient for you. Some of our dogs are still in Texas in foster care. Our application is online at http://houstonshaggydogrescue.org/application-process/

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dougal, a Norwalk Old English Sheepdog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Old English Sheepdog for sale in Norwalk, or seeking a Old English Sheepdog dog from a breeder in Norwalk.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Norwalk already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Norwalk breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Old English Sheepdog breeders who help with Old English Sheepdog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Norwalk paves the way for another one to be saved.
