My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This 11 month Old English Sheepdog mix was owner surrendered to our rescue as his owners lived in a small apt and could not take care of him. He is 53 lbs and skinny, and he could easily put on 15-20 lbs and look a lot better. He is a really nice puppy, loves to play and run with the other dogs. He can run and jump a 6 ft fence very easily and will need an experienced owner and preferably one who has owned this breed before, as they need a lot of grooming and maintenance. He is not suitable for an apt and will need a very secure yard. He seems to be pretty well leash and housetrained and loves to ride in the car. He could do with some basic obedience training and a friend to play with as he will do better not being an only dog

The total adoption donation of $700 and includes the required interstate health certificate and transport , spay/neuter, shots including rabies, bordatella, parvo, lepto, distemper and canine influenza, and micro chip with a lifetime pre paid registration. The total amount is payable to Shaggy Dog Rescue which is a 501c3. Some of our dogs are still in Texas in foster care. The application is online at http://houstonshaggydogrescue.org/application-process/

Just as a note, if you are in Massachusetts and are adopting directly from Texas rather than from a local foster, there are new quarantine laws in effect. All rescues must be quarantined 48 hours at a state run facility, and in addition, a second interstate health certificate is required to be issued by a Massachusetts vet. This new law may add an additional cost.
