Dutchess's Story...
10/20/2016: DUTCHESS HAS BEEN ADOPTED! 9/28/2016: Dutchess has been spayed and vetted and is ready to find her new family. Dutchess weighs approx 32.1 pounds on 9/28 and has no health issues per her exam. She is heartworm negative but did test positive for hooks and whips and will be dewormed with ivermectin to treat. Dutchess was surrendered by her owner because they were moving to a place where they were unable to have dogs. Dutchess is only about 6 months old so she is very much a puppy still. Dutchess is timid when she first encounters new people and situations but warms up quickly. She is a friendly little girl who appears to get along well with other dogs after an initial adjustment period. She was not raised around children but she would probably do well with older children. Cats are unknown. Dutchess does walk on a leash. She would love a yard to play in during the day and a couch to cuddle up next to you while you watch your favorite movies and shows at night. She will make a nice addition to any family. Dutchess's adoption fee will be $150 & will help to cover her vetting and daily cost of care while with us. If interested in adopting Dutchess, please email your interest and adoption application or call us @ (352)493-1255 for more information or to set up a day and time to meet her.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dutchess, a Chiefland Labrador Retriever/Whippet dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Whippet for sale in Chiefland, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Whippet dog from a breeder in Chiefland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chiefland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chiefland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Whippet breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Whippet rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chiefland paves the way for another one to be saved.
