Meet Gus. He is about 10 years old and a cute little shih Tzu who is about 17 lbs. Gus was found as a stray in southern Indiana and then taken into the prison program. He spent 5 months in a prison learning how to be a wonderful member of a family. Gus is housebroken and has not been in a crate since coming up to Rover Rescue. Once Gus started to feel comfortable, his little personality came out and he sure knows what he wants. Gus desires to sit next to his humans on the couch and will whine to be picked up and placed there. Gus also desires to be picked up and placed on the human bed when it is time to sleep. If left on the floor he desires a snuggly bed but not after giving you his disapproval of not getting the bed with you. This is all typical of the shih tzu breed who deem themselves little princes of the house. Gus does enjoy his naps but also likes to wander outside for a while in the fenced in yard where he will sun himself. He gets along with other dogs (big and small) and is not bothered by cats. He does not mind being carried but does not like to be picked up by children. Gus appears to be deaf, which helps him to sleep anywhere. This does not seem to be a problem when it is meal time because like all shih tzus, they are ruled by their stomachs and know when it is time to eat or a treat is coming out. Gus loves to go for walks on a leash. Do you have room in your home and heart for Gus as your companion in his senior years? If you have more questions or would like to meet this incredible man, please call Jen 630-801-3294. His adoption fee is $200 which includes his microchip.
