Hello there! My name is Briggs and I am so happy you clicked on my picture! Let me tell you a little bit about myself so that we can get to know each other better!

You're probably wondering where I got my name from - it's a really neat story! I was found as a stray and taken in by a kind woman who contacted a Detroit officer who is often referred to as 'Briggs" who contacted the kind folks at NBS Animal Rescue to help me find my fur-ever home. Sadly my family never came looking for me - but in great news I've found a lovely foster home who takes great care of me and is helping me find my fur-ever family! My foster mom named me Briggs after the kind Officer who helped me get into a safe home and off of the streets.

I am a 5 year old neutered male Poodle who is looking for a loving home to call my own. I am a sweet and playful fella who can be a bit shy at first when meeting new people and in new environments, but I quickly warm up after some soft words and tasty treats. I enjoy playing with other friendly small dogs, love snuggling on your lap, promise not to snore at night while I'm cuddled up next to you in bed, love playing with toys and enjoy a good game of fetch and a walk around the neighborhood.

After being on the streets for quite a while I'm doing well with learning how to do my business outside - you see, as a stray it didn't matter where I did my personal business, my foster mom and dad are helping me to learn that the backyard is the perfect location to relieve myself. Did I mention that I am not only adorable, but also super smart? I know how to sit, will lie down for treats, know how to fetch, walk nicely on a leash, and give kisses to those who I trust. Because I can be a bit nervous around loud noises and quick movements I would prefer a home without small kids. I don't think I've ever met a kitty cat before, so I'm not sure how I would do living with a feline friend - but I suppose we could meet and see if we get along.

My friends at NBS Animal Rescue are helping me to find the perfect fur-ever home. All of the dogs in our rescue are have different personalities and needs within an adoptive home. Not all of my friends here at NBS Animal Rescue have the same requirements, so if I’m not be the perfect fit for your family- be sure to check out my other doggy friends too! For me?

These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home!
- Family who is gone no longer than 6 hours at a time.
- Children must be 12yrs or older.

If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps:

1.) Visit to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to….

2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.

3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.

My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!

Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.

While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!

About NBS Animal Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

N.B.S Animal Rescue is a non-profit animal rescue that focuses 100% of our energy, time, money, and effort on providing the best care, training, and home environment for the dogs in our care as we work diligently towards finding loving adoptive homes for them.

We pride ourselves on being completely up front with our supporters, post our financial records on a monthly basis for our donors to see exactly what their generous donations are being used for, promptly return phone calls and e-mails, encourage and nurture a positive relationship with our volunteers, support other animal rescues efforts, and refuse to allow the drama often associated with animal rescue to deter our efforts.

While we recognize that we can't do everything, we know we can do something to help animals in need. N.B.S. Animal Rescue is Not Breed Specific and is founded in honor of several rescue dogs who left lasting paw prints on our hearts.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Want to meet one of our adorable puppies or dogs before our next adoption event? We ask that you complete an adoption application and are pre-approved as an adoptive home before we can set up a meet and greet at the dogs foster home.

Be on the look out for our upcoming adoption events and fundraisers! These are great opportunities for you to meet our available dogs and puppies who are looking for great homes!

Our Adoption Process...

Think you've found your new best friend, the love of your life, or a fur-baby to love forever on our rescue's Adopt-A-Pet site???

THAT'S GREAT!!! We're so happy you've fallen in love with one of our very deserving dogs! Let us help you get the ball rolling!

Here's what our adoption process consists of:

1.) We ask that you visit our website at to fill out an online adoption application. In the application we will ask that you tell us a little bit about yourself, your home, your current and past pets, how you will help your new pet become comfortable in their new home, and we will ask for a veterinarians contact name and number as well as three personal references that we can speak to.

2.) Once we receive your application one of our dedicated adoption specialists will review your application carefully, contact your veterinarian and all three personal references and speak to you on the phone to clear up any questions that may arise during the process.

3.) Once your application has been approved, our adoption coordinator will contact you with the good news! At this time we will set up a meet and greet for your family and the dog you would like to adopt.

4.) If at the meet and greet your entire family loves the dog, feels like they are a good match for your family and our adoption coordinator feels as though your home will provide the dog with the best possible care, an Adoption Agreement is signed, an adoption fee paid, and information about the dog's past veterinary care, feeding schedule, etc is shared.

5.) Our adoption fee is $250.00 for all dogs and puppies. All animals have been seen by a licensed veterinarian and given a comprehensive wellness exam, are current on all age appropriate vaccines including DHPP, Rabies, and Bordatella, and have received proper internal and external parasite control as well as have been spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
