Spike's Info...

I am already neutered, housetrained, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.

Spike's Story...
Spike came into our rescue only a couple of days ago from East Haven CT Animal Control. He was an owner surrender to the pound. When they took him to the vet he needed dental work badly, so they had that done as well as having his neuter surgery, and he is now recovering from it.

Once he does, and has his neuter surgery, he will be ready and waiting to be adopted - and we'd love to have a home all set for him by then.

Spike is the cutest pup! He's a Maltese mix, about 7 years old. He is just fine with other dogs, and we believe he will be fine with children and cats as well - but we will be doing more evaluation of him in the coming days.

Right now, in spite of some discomfort from the surgery, he is just the sweetest boy - and we are in love with him already!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Spike, a Groton Maltese/Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maltese/Shih Tzu for sale in Groton, or seeking a Maltese/Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Groton.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Groton already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Groton breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maltese/Shih Tzu breeders who help with Maltese/Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Groton paves the way for another one to be saved.
