Ruby is an adorable and energetic young pup looking for her forever home. She is approximately 1 year old, weighs 31 lbs, and appears to be a Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie) mix. Little Ruby definitely has a Sheltie personality! She is always on the go. Her absolute favorite activity is playing with other dogs. Ruby is very intelligent and highly trainable. She learned "sit" in mere seconds! Ruby loves the water and is a natural swimmer. She will make a fantastic trained athlete- she is perfect for someone interested in dock dog or agility activities. Ruby's foster family feels that Ruby's ideal home will have the following: Another well-adjusted and playful dog Time to provide advanced training An active lifestyle Ruby is an absolute doll, she is healthy and as sweet as can be. She is still in her puppy years and has not received any formal training. Her new family will need to forgive her mistakes and show her how to be a confident and well adjusted family member. She currently has separation anxiety which her new family will need to address. She can also be a little "mouthy" which is a common puppy trait. Ruby is shy with new people, however she gains confidence when paired with a well adjusted doggie friend. Ruby wants to herd cats, so living with one would be a decision left to the resident cat. Ruby is potty-trained and her adoption fee is $300.

About Small Dog Rescue of Minnesota

About Our Rescue Group...

Small Dog Rescue of Minnesota (SDR) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit all-volunteer no-kill group committed to the rescue, rehabilitation, and placement of dogs 20 pounds and under.

Dogs are fostered in volunteers' homes so they can be loved like a family member until they are placed in a suitable adoptive home, determined by a review of a written application, a criminal background check, several reference consultations, and a home visit.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We hold adoption events a few times a month in different locations throughout Minnesota. You can see where we'll be by visiting our Events Page on our website at

Our Adoption Process...

1. Complete an adoption application at:

2. Allow up to 10 days for SDR to process your adoption application. It will be reviewed by an SDR representative and references will be checked.

3. If the application is aproved, a home visit will be conducted to ensure a good match with the applicant & the dog.

4. If SDR determines a good match has been made, an adoption contract between the adopter and SDR will be completed. An adoption fee + applicable MN state sales tax are due at the time the contract is signed.
