My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

December 2016: Rory loves hugs and belly rubs. She is such a funny and happy girl, her smile can be seen in her eyes. She loves playing with other dogs big and small. She is cautious with new people but once she trusts you she is totally loyal to you. She was having a hard time riding in vehicles at first but with practice she is doing much better, recently making a 7 hour trip to Madawaska, Maine without a problem. She is crate and house trained. She has lots of patience waiting to go outside while her foster family gets all of the dogs ready for a walk. She walks great on the leash and has no problems on walks; she's so well behaved she can be walked by one foster parent with 3 other dogs! She has no food aggression. She would do well in a home with another outgoing dog. Daycare 2 to 3 times a week has been beneficial for continuation of her socialization with both people and other animals. She is doing well with the sit command so far.

October 2016: Rory is here with us and doing awesome. Her foster siblings are two small dogs, a cat, a kitten and a rat! Rory has a neighbor human friend who is about 10 years old and she did well with her. She has also met younger children and she seems to take to them very well, almost better than adults. Rory has been going to doggy day care and she is not always sure how to play with big groups of other dogs, she can be a little bossy or defensive. They made her group smaller and less rambunctious, and she has been much better.

Rory can be a little nervous at first meetings, especially with men, but she is learning to trust and that humans can be good. It's amazing how resilient dogs are! Rory is just a love!

Rory and her three pups were rescued from the side of the road by a good Samaritan. Rory and one puppy were actually crossing a busy 2 lane highway, a disaster in the making! They are safe now and the puppies have all been adopted; Rory had to get treated for heartworm but now she is healthy has come north to a Maine foster home.

Rory is great with everyone, fine with dogs and cats. While she hasn't lived with children, her caregivers think she would be fine with kids but we'll can get more information on this as she settles in. Rory is around 1.5 years old and weighs around 40lbs.

Please note, we do not have a physical facility where our dogs are housed, they are cared for in our network of wonderful foster homes throughout New England. If you find a dog you would like to meet, our expectation is that, once approved, you will travel to meet the dog in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.
