Additional Information: Banshee is a forever-kitten with gorgeous green eyes, unceasing curiosity, & total adoration for her humans. Banshee's favorite activities are making biscuits on her humans, chasing a laser pointer, & sprinting to unwind in the evenings. Banshee's favorite idle moments are trying to sleep on top of her humans' heads, looking out windows, and eating her kibble using her paw as a plate.

While not a fan of cat nip, Banshee doesn't need much other than to hear her humans' voice or see a piece of string mood to go into play mode. Really, her only three moods are near humans, playtime, and eating. Banshee is the most dog-like cat her foster has known, as she follows her humans from room to room to ensure she can gently head-butt them for more affection wherever they are. Even at night, Banshee uses her humans as a jungle gym in between snuggles. Banshee's favorite place to sleep is in the crook of a neck or right between her humans' pillows - that way if you fidget at night she can give you a few reassuring licks.

Banshee is a petite little lady, who enjoys jumping onto tall surfaces, eating flowers, & playing with a bubble gum wrapper for hours. Also anything with feathers - she's a natural hunter & loves to chase with her signature butt-wiggle of excitement. When jumping, due to her missing tail, she sometimes needs to balance with her front paws in the air - giving the impression of a dinosaur emerging from the jungle. Her foster-humans are particularly fond of watching her jump & saying "Clever girl."

More significantly, her foster humans are totally obsessed with her. Bansheenaps nose-to-nose with her foster mom, & tangles about her foster dad's feet in the kitchen with green-eyed wonder. Banshee is such a gentle, playful soul - any home would be privileged to become the landscape for her curious & wonderful adventures.

*Banshee is sponsored and named by Kimberly R. in honor of her tortie Banshee.

If you are interested in meeting a cat, we require an adoption application. Visit to apply. If a cat has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon.

If a cat has "NEEDS FOSTER" listed, they are still available for adoption. Information about fostering and our current cat foster needs can be found here: City Dogs Rescue is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our animals (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model).

Our cat adoption fee is $150 unless noted. Prior to arrival, all of our cats are spayed/neutered (unless specified) and given shots for Rabies, FVRCP, and Feline leukemia. They are microchipped and tested for FIV and FeLV. They are dewormed at least twice and given a health check by the vet.

City Dogs Rescue is a rescue, not a shelter, and our dogs are located in temporary foster homes in the Washington, DC metro region.  Adoption fee, home visit, and application required. About City Dogs Rescue DC

About Our Rescue Group...

City Dogs Rescue was formed for one reason: to rescue adoptable dogs in overcrowded and high-kill shelters where resources are severely limited. We want to offer a lifeline to as many of these wonderful pups as possible. Sadly, nearly all of the dogs that City Dogs Rescue takes in are just days and sometimes hours away from being euthanized, for no reason other than lack of space. By finding these dogs permanent and loving homes in the DC metropolitan area, we can enrich lives - both human and canine. We are excited to embark on this journey, and we welcome your help in any capacity – through volunteering, fostering, adopting, and/or donating.

Come Meet Our Pets...

All our dogs are located in Washington, DC either in foster homes or at City Dogs. Please email us to schedule a visit!

Our Adoption Process...

1. Fill out an Adoption Application.
2. We will have a brief conversation with you to determine your needs and preferences, find out about your daily schedule, and talk about your previous experience, if any, with pets.
3. If applicable, we will call your veterinarian to ensure that previous pets have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and well cared for. We may also call references listed on your application.
4. For renters, we’ll check with your landlord to ensure that dogs are permitted and that the dog that you’re adopting wouldn’t violate any size or breed restrictions.
5. We will visit your home to see the environment where the dog will live and answer any questions you might have. This is a great opportunity for you to get valuable input on how to integrate your new pet into your home.
6. Finally, we will enter into an adoption contract, and you will be required to pay an adoption fee which covers spay/neutering*, microchipping, vaccinations, and first initial vet visit.
7. Most importantly, enjoy life with your new companion!

* If you are adopting a puppy, depending on the age of the puppy she/he may not yet be spayed/neutered. In this case, you will be required to schedule an appointment for the spay/neuter procedure for your new companion and sign an agreement in which you agree to spay/neuter your pet within a certain number of days.
