Bishop ADOPTED TX's Story...

Meet Bishop!

Bishop was adopted 11/30/08. His new home is in Texarkana, Texas.

Bishop is a white and tan pure bred Chihuahua. He is 2 years old and weighs 6.40 pounds. Bishop was fully vetted 11/12/08. His vetting included neuter, shots with rabies, heartworm and fecal tested negative. Bishop started Interceptor for heartworm prevention and is having Frontline placed on him for flea control. Pictures taken 11/14/08.

11/10/08 Bishop was found to be deaf when he was rescued from the shelter.

Bishop was rescued from the Texarkana Animal Shelter 11/10/08. Bishop, Dennis the Menace and Oliver North spent 2 hour at the shelter until JTR could pick them up. This group of guys lived in Texarkana, Arkansas. They were indoor house pets. The previous owner moved to a assisted living center and was unable to take her little guys with her. Connie the Animal Control Officer (ACO) of Texarkana, Arkansas knows the lady. Connie was relieved all 3 made it to a rescue. The Texarkana Animal Shelter Director Donna H. helped me trim all the toe nails. They had grown very long and the previous owner losing her site could not cut them.

Bishop is a very calm little guy. He enjoys being near you or go on his own and take a nap in his doggy bed. Bishop keeps an eye out for anyone because of his deafness. He shows to been loved in the past. Bishop would be a perfect addition to any home.

Special thank you to the Texarkana Animal Shelter staff for sending the 3 little men to JTR.

Never adopted before?

Everyone wishing to adopt an animal from JTR must complete an adoption application. This application asks for general information about the adopter, adopter’s family, other current and prior pets and previous veterinary care. If you have never had a family pet before, follow up veterinary calls will be made during the year to insure the animal is being well cared for. Home visits are required unless the distance is too far for JTR or JTR’s contacts. Pictures of the home and common ground are required. Once the application is approved the adopter may meet and or adopt any of JTR's animals. A signed adoption contract is required. Adopters with approved applications are top priority to JTR.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Bishop ADOPTED TX, a Texarkana Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Texarkana, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Texarkana.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Texarkana already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Texarkana breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Texarkana paves the way for another one to be saved.
