Cowboy ADOPTED TX's Story...

Meet Cowboy!

Cowboy was adopted 12/26/08. His new home is in Texarkana, Texas.

Cowboy is a 3 year old, male, pure bred Basset Hound. He weighs 49.50 pounds. 11/24/08 Cowboy visited the vet clinic and received his neuter, shots with rabies, heartworm and fecal tested negative. He started Interceptor for heartworm prevention and is having frontline placed on him for flea control. Pictures taken 11/27/08.

Cowboy was rescued 11/24/08 with the help of Donna G. of Three Rivers Animal Rescue in Texarkana, Texas. Donna contacted JTR to see if help could be found for Cowboy. Cowboy was found at the Electric Cowboy Night Club at the 4400 Block of East Broad Street, Texarkana, Arkansas. The manager of the Night Club found him in the parking lot. The manager tried to find his owner and kept Cowboy at the club. A few weeks past, but no owner was found. The manager worried that Cowboy could possibly get hurt with the traffic in and out of the club, so he contacted Donna G. Donna G. contacted JTR 11/22/08.

Cowboy is a wonderful looking and friendly fellow. He enjoys his time hanging out anywhere a human is. Cowboy gets along with other dogs and would be a wonderful addition to a family with children or a single person. He does not jump on you but does enjoy playing and walking. Cowboy seams to be potty trained with no accidents found in my home.

Special thank you to Donna G. and the staff of the Electric Cowboy. The care and concern for this life is greatly admired.

JTR will transport and ship any animal. All rescued animals deserve a wonderful home now and not sit waiting for months. Jeff will personally drive some distance to help a homeless animal find his or hers forever home.

Never adopted before?

Everyone wishing to adopt an animal from JTR must complete an adoption application. This application asks for general information about the adopter, adopter’s family, other current and prior pets and previous veterinary care. If you have never had a family pet before, follow up veterinary calls will be made during the year to insure the animal is being well cared for. Home visits are required unless the distance is too far for JTR or JTR’s contacts. Pictures of the home and common ground are required. Once the application is approved the adopter may meet and or adopt any of JTR's animals. A signed adoption contract is required. Adopters with approved applications are top priority to JTR.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Cowboy ADOPTED TX, a Texarkana Basset Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basset Hound for sale in Texarkana, or seeking a Basset Hound dog from a breeder in Texarkana.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Texarkana already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Texarkana breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basset Hound breeders who help with Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Texarkana paves the way for another one to be saved.
