Jake ADOPTED AR's Story...

Meet Jake!

Jake was adopted 2/21/09. His new homw is in Kirby, AR.

Jake is a male black, white and tan Rat Terrier. He weighs 10.7 pounds. 1/7/09 Jake visited the vet clinic and received his neuter, shots with rabies, heartworm tested positive and fecal tested negative. Jake will be treated for heartworm ASAP. Pictures taken 1/19/09.

Jake was found wondering the streets of Texarkana, Arkansas. A kind soul found him and called Pat O. at Westridge Animal Hospital. Pat being an animal lover looked for Jake’s owner for over a week. When no owner was found Pat O. contacted JTR to help Jake.

Jake is a wonderful little guy. He not a barker and enjoys spending his time with humans. Jake has a buddy named Buddy RT, they get along very well. Jake is a smaller Rat Terrier. He is a quick learner and shows to have been loved in his past. Jake is potty, crate and leash trained. He would be a perfect addition to any home.

Special thank you to Pat O. for helping Jake find his way to rescue. Pat’s efforts in this rescue along with her help and care with all JTR’s rescued animals visiting Westridge Animal Hospital are truly admired!

To apply for adoption please email JEFFnTEXARKANA@aol.com to received an adoption application. If you have already completed an application with another rescue, please feel free to email that application.

JTR will transport and ship any animal. All rescued animals deserve a wonderful home now and not sit waiting for months. Jeff will personally drive some distance to help a homeless animal find his or hers forever home.

Never adopted before?

Everyone wishing to adopt an animal from JTR must complete an adoption application. This application asks for general information about the adopter, adopter’s family, other current and prior pets and previous veterinary care. If you have never had a family pet before, follow up veterinary calls will be made during the year to insure the animal is being well cared for. Home visits are required unless the distance is too far for JTR or JTR’s contacts. Pictures of the home and common ground are required. Once the application is approved the adopter may meet and or adopt any of JTR's animals. A signed adoption contract is required. Adopters with approved applications are top priority to JTR.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jake ADOPTED AR, a Texarkana Rat Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Rat Terrier for sale in Texarkana, or seeking a Rat Terrier dog from a breeder in Texarkana.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Texarkana already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Texarkana breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Rat Terrier breeders who help with Rat Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Texarkana paves the way for another one to be saved.
