DeltaD ADOPTED MA's Story...
Meet Delta Dawn!
Delta Dawn was adopted 7/11/09. Her new home is in Haverhill, MA.
Delta Dawn is a female, black in color, Dachshund Chihuahua mix also known as a Chi Weenie. Her vet Birthday guess is 6/22/08 and she weighs 5.8 pounds. Delta Dawn visited the vet clinic 6/6/09 and received her 1st set of shots, fecal tested negative and health check up. Delta Dawn visited the vet clinic 6/12/09 due to vomiting and not eating. Her QBC white blood count was almost zero. The vet clinic said Delta Dawn showed to have symptoms of Parvo. Delta Dawn spent 3 days in ICU receiving fluids and antibiotics. She was released completely well 6/15/09. Delta Dawn visited the vet clinic 6/22/09 to received her spay and shots with rabies, direct and occult heartworm tested negative and fecal tested negative. Delta Dawn 100% healthy and ready for adoption. Pictures taken 6/23/09.
Delta Dawn was rescued 6/6/09 from the Animal Care and Adoption Center of Texarkana Arkansas. She was picked upped as a stray. Delta Dawn was in a holding area with several larger dogs. JTR walked by the holding area and saw just a head peeking out of a pile of dogs. Instantly, Delta Dawn was pulled and taken into rescue.
Delta Dawn is a sweetheart. She loves to play and snuggle. Delta Dawn will stay close in the backyard. When she was brought home from the Parvo exposer she was let down to play in the front yard. Delta Dawn would only go 5 feet and come back as soon as she was called. She is leashed, potty and crate trained. Delta Dawn would make a wonderful addition to any home seeking a tiny loving soul.

Never adopted before?
Everyone wishing to adopt an animal from JTR must complete an adoption application. This application asks for general information about the adopter, adopter’s family, other current and prior pets and previous veterinary care. If you have never had a family pet before, follow up veterinary calls will be made during the year to insure the animal is being well cared for. Home visits are required unless the distance is too far for JTR or JTR’s contacts. Pictures of the home and common ground are required. Once the application is approved the adopter may meet and or adopt any of JTR's animals. A signed adoption contract is required. Adopters with approved applications are top priority to JTR.

Rescues and shelter volunteers in Texarkana already know the personality and tendencies
of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it
much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Texarkana breeder,
or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for
a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of
