Harper's Story...
Hello my name is Harper and I’m a female, two-and-a-half-year-old Chesapeake Bay Retriever/ Heeler mix. I am mostly all black but do have some white on my feet and on my chest. I can still be a little shy around people, especially if kids or adults come running at me. It’s sad but I’ll get a little shy and cower to the ground till I feel safe again. Remember that I came from a high kill shelter and need some time to adjust to kindness. Other than that, I love playing tug-of-war with my foster kids and giving lots of puppy kisses on the face. I also walk really well on my leash and foster mom is really proud of that. I am fully house trained, ewww how could I not be! I get along with all sorts of animals (including chickens, bunnies & cats). Even when foster moms itty bitty dogs nip at me, I don't even growl or bite I just let them have their fun and then walk away. Harper is currently being fostered in Elva, WI. Harper's adoption fee is $250 and covers her spay, all age appropriate shots, microchip and current health certificate. Please apply at www.hopingfurahome.com (DATCP 403260 DS).

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Harper, a Mauston Chesapeake Bay Retriever/Australian Cattle Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chesapeake Bay Retriever/Australian Cattle Dog for sale in Mauston, or seeking a Chesapeake Bay Retriever/Australian Cattle Dog dog from a breeder in Mauston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Mauston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Mauston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chesapeake Bay Retriever/Australian Cattle Dog breeders who help with Chesapeake Bay Retriever/Australian Cattle Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Mauston paves the way for another one to be saved.
