My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET TAZ!
This uniquely handsome guy is named Taz or "T" for short! Taz is a 7 year old Pit Bull terrier who was recently returned to Philly's animal control shelter after 5 years in a home due to his owners having to relocate and and inability to properly care for him. He has a mostly white coat with patches of gray throughout. When Taz came to the shelter, he was covered in lesions due to a pretty severe skin infection, likely mostly due to not being kept clean and likely not getting a healthy diet, which also contributes to him being overweight right now. Because Taz wasn't going to be able to get the care he needed at the shelter, he was selected for euthanasia. Luckily, City of Elderly Love stepped in to save his life and whisked him right off to our vet!

Taz is now safe and sound and is receiving antibiotics and medicated baths to help clear up his skin. He's also been started on an appropriate diet and is getting the moderate exercise he needs - he's going to look and feel like a whole new man in no time! Despite being a bigger guy, Taz walks well on a leash and is a low-key, medium-energy dog. He's always up for a walk or ride in the car, but is also happy to explore the yard on his own or snooze in the sun! He gives gentle kisses and loves back/butt scratches! Taz is currently living at a local doggy daycare/adoption center with other dogs. He does great with other smaller dogs and really seems to enjoy the company of the ladies! There are definitely some dogs Taz does not like, but he immediately lets us know so it is no big deal. Taz reportedly lived with children of all ages in his previous home and has done well when meeting them with us. While Taz may look a little rough around the edges right now, there is definitely a hidden gem waiting to shine through. Could you be the lucky family that adopts this handsome guy?
