This is Flicker, Flicker is a 7 yer old Shih Tzu. She is adorable and happy. She absolutely LOVES other dogs. She is crate trained. She is housebroken as long as she gets outside when she needs to. Frequent trips outside with canine pack members is a huge help. Flicker loves to share your food, her food, anyone's food..she enjoys treats a LOT. Having her around cannot help but make you smile. But that said, Flicker has a pretty big down side.

You see, Flicker came from a puppy mill. And after being used as nothing but a puppy producer for the first five years of her life, she was cast off like so much garbage. She never left her cage while she was bred over and over at every cycle. Her human interactions consisted of being fed and watered, bred, and having her puppies taken away. Because of this, Flicker might not ever completely trust people. We can touch, pet, bathe and groom her but she would really rather we didn't. Though she is happy to dance around our feet for a treat. She will follow us around and play peekaboo around corners but will avoid physical contact whenever she can.

If you are looking for a cuddly companion for yourself, Flicker might not ever be that dog. If you have a dog that needs a canine companion, or even a couple of dogs, Flicker could make a great addition.

About DRAW Dog Rescue Around Washington

About Our Rescue Group...

Dog Rescue Around Washington was formed in 2004 by four women involved in rescue who have likeminded values and passion for the dogs in crisis in the world. We do not have a shelter but rely on volunteer foster homes. Almost all of our dogs are hand picked from surrounding shelters, dogs at risk of euthanasia. Our goal is to put as many temperamentally sound dogs into responsible homes as possible. To achieve that goal, we take our time getting to know each adoptable dog, socializing and training them as needed. We see to any medical need from the basics to the extreme.

We specialize in dogs that are particularly at risk due to age, breed, or overpopulation. Many of our dogs are in our rescue simply because no one else wanted them.

We consider those who have adopted from us, family. We are here to help for life. Adopting from us gives you someone to call in crisis, someone to offer advice and assistance. Even though your new dog now belongs to you, we feel it is our responsibility to stand by you to make your dogs life with you a success.

Come Meet Our Pets...

By Appointment only. We are a group of private foster homes throughout western Washington.

Our Adoption Process...

We require an adoption application to be filled out completely and verified before any of our pets are met. Then we proceed with arranging a meet and greet and home check. We require fenced yards and agreement of all family members as a pet is the responsibility of the whole family.
