Elvis is a very loveable 3 year old Miniature Pinscher/Chihuahua mix and is a very cuddly dog. He likes to sit next to you or on your lap, especially in the evening. He is very active first thing in the morning and is full of energy but when he calms down he likes to chew on his squeaky dog toys and especially loves to chew on hoofs. Elvis is crate trained at night, but would like to be in your bedroom so he can see you and will sleep through the night. He is also fine in his crate if you have to leave for errands. He is potty trained and pretty much has it down but you do need to watch him to make sure he goes when it is time for potty. He does not heal on the leash but is able to walk with you on his leash, best with a harness. He has been learning how to sit and lay down and doing very well so far. Elvis is very good with the other dogs but can also be the only dog to a family that has the time to continue his training and have the time to play with him. Elvis doesn’t mind the cats in the house but the cats might not like him. He really loves to play outside but remember that he doesn’t want to be left outside all of the time, he wants to be inside with his family. He really doesn’t like to be around small children under the age of 12 years old, he gets very scared of the smaller ones and will bark at them. Maybe he was with smaller children before we got him and had a bad experience, we just don’t know his past.

SECURE FENCING REQUIRED FOR ALL OF OUR RESCUED DOGS.

For more information email starshalodogs@yahoo.com.

If you are considering adopting a dog through HALO Here are some helpful hints:

Bring pictures of your yard to show secure fencing. Most of our dogs require a 6 foot fenced yard. Yards must be cleared of any fox tail weeds.

We do adopt small dogs to apartments or condo and need to see pictures of the patio or balcony area. If you rent, please bring copy of your lease to show you can have pets and any size restrictions.

We do not adopt to homes with children under the age of five unless we know the history of the dog with young children. All Children MUST be present at adoption.

If you own a dog and are looking for a friend please bring your dog with you so they can be introduced.

About East Contra Costa County Homeless Animals' Lifeline Organization (H.A.L.O.)

About Our Rescue Group...

H.A.L.O. is the East Contra Costa County Homeless Animals' Lifeline Organization, better known as H.A.L.O. We are a nonprofit, all volunteer, 501c(3) charitable organization who assists dogs, cats and their owners in Eastern Contra Costa County.
We rescue approximatly 500 animals a year, all by volunteers, all in our homes and in our hearts.
We are not a shelter,
We have grant funds for the spaying and neutering of East County ferals and food for them if needed.
We have a program called "Angel Ears" where certified dogs and their trainers go to the local libraries and the children read to the dogs. This has proven a very effective way to increase reading skills rapidly. We also take the dogs to senior facilities.
We are in need of volunteer in many capacities.
