Sonny & Cher's Story...
**IN FOSTER CARE** ... "Sonny & Cher" are cute 5-week old kittens who were brought to the HSOV on September 2, 2016 after they were found in Belpre Ohio without a mother in sight :( They are most certainly brother-and-sister :) "Sonny" is an adorable orange-and-white male kitten. "Cher" is a darling female calico kitten. They were given wormer on September 2, 2016 and will be given vaccinations when they are a little older. "Sonny & Cher" are available for foster/rescue only at the present time since they are too young to be spayed/neutered for adoption. Rescue groups may contact our Feline Rescue Coordinator via email ( We can usually help with transportation and also provide combo testing without charge to rescues/fosters. UPDATE: "Sonny & Cher" went home with one of our wonderful foster mothers on September 22, 2016 :) These babies are so bonded with each other that we feel they must remain together.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sonny & Cher, a Marietta Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Marietta, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Marietta.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Marietta already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Marietta breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Marietta paves the way for another one to be saved.
