Grace Kelly's Story...
Meet little Grace Kelly, who came to our rescue along with 2 other Chihuahuas from a rural Virginia kill shelter. She is estimated to be 3-4 years old. Did you know that Chihuahua's are the second most euthanized breed in the US, second only to the American Pit bull Terrier? This makes adoption the most humane option! Grace Kelly is warming up since she arrived, and needs a new mommy and daddy of her own.

$175.00 adoption donation ($200 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough) , microchipped and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites if needed. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as surgeries and dentals. For more information or apply to adopt at

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Grace Kelly, a Staunton Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Staunton, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Staunton.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Staunton already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Staunton breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Staunton paves the way for another one to be saved.
