You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.
All of our dogs are in foster homes and we have no paid staff. If you have questions concerning a specific dog, PLEASE fill out an application and the foster parent will be in touch. We will not arrange any home visits with any of our dogs until your application is processed. Please understand our foster parents are precious to our 2nd Chance family; without them we cannot function, so we do our best to not burden them with multiple appointments. Our foster parents will choose their top 3 applications and arrange home visits with these applicants. The adopter will be chosen at that time. The process can take anywhere from a week to a month. We want to make sure our little furry ones are placed in their "forever home" and never have to go through a rehoming again!
Hi! My name is Sadie, aka Dutchess. My foster caregiver says I am perfect. I humbly agree. I live to eat and sleep. More about eating later. As for sleeping, I go to bed at 9:30ish and sleep until 7:30 or 8. I can make it through the night but do need to pee first thing in the morning. I am very considerate about my personal habits. Four walks a day keeps me happy and I will bark if I need to relieve myself. Speaking of barking, I am not a yapper, but will let you know when I am hungry or need to go. I also bark when I am placed in my crate, which I hate. I will bark for a while when you leave me then I go to sleep. I am definitely not a cuddle kind of gal although I will follow you from room to room and lie at you feet or close by.
Regarding food...I have recently been diagnosed with pancreatitis so that means a special diet with no treats. My foster caregiver listens to the vet (darn her), and so should you.
I am most happy sleeping in my bed, and will make a nest with couch cushions, laundry, or anything soft and available if my bed is not nearby. I like to walk and go up and down steps easily. In addition to not cuddling, I do not play and probably am happier in an adult environment. My caregiver loves me and will agree to any permanent home where I will be cared for and adored.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.
Please understand we do not adopt out to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.
A dog is a lifetime commitment. The dogs in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners :( We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the dog is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
