My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

On May 27th, 2016 we were contacted by a TN State wildlife officer regarding three Huskies that had been seized from a neglect case in middle TN that had three Huskies and other wild animals. The officer explained that they were trying to get the Huskies into rescue and find the various wild animals sanctuary. We were full and we helped him find placement for two of the Huskies, the third was a very pregnant female husky Kleo and the officer had been referred to a rescue in MO that supposedly took pregnant dogs. We told him that we would be happy to assist with transport. We met the officer in Jackson, TN on May 29th which was about halfway for him and we had committed to driving Kleo to Cape Girardeau, MO to meet the rescue. After waiting for almost two hours with no calls or correspondence from the rescue we reluctantly brought Kleo back to Memphis. I write reluntantly only because we did not have a foster home available to accommodate a pregnant Mom that was due any day, but we did the best we could. Kleo went to our directors home and we set up a comfy situation in her formal living room and then went out and bought baby gates where her other dogs would not bother Kleo, two days later Kleo gave birth to 6 puppies. Two were born stillborn and the other 4 were bouncing healthy puppies (3 males and 1 female). Kleo was a fantastic mother, she weaned the puppies a couple of days shy of eight weeks. About a week later we had Kleo spayed and moved her to another foster home where she would recover and not be chased by four hungry puppies any longer and she was very happy with that plan by then. Kleo has since been adopted to her forever home.  Kublai Khan, Kaidu, Byamba and Kokechin are Kleo’s babies. We have coveted their care and health. They were not allowed outside on the grass until they had completed three of their four puppy vaccinations. They have been dewormed per the veterinarian as scheduled and next week they are going for their rabies vaccination. We will be microchipping and spay/neutering them as soon as our veterinarian says they are large enough. We will only consider forever homes in the MidSouth area where the rest of their vetting can be completed.  They are all four well adjusted and happy puppies, they love people and are very use to being handled, cuddled and they love giving kisses. They are paper trained and starting to understand the race to the back door to go outside to do their business. They are well socialized around other dogs and have no fear. They have really enjoyed getting to run and romp in the yard and explore everything. And of course they have already been enrolled into squirrel chasing academy.

All of our rescues are temperament tested around children of all ages, small and large dogs and cats. They all have basic training, IE; sit; down, come and walking on a lead. We are not a shelter, we are a rescue and all of our rescued dogs are kept in individual foster/volunteers homes. This gives them sometimes their first taste of having a family and being part of that family. Also, it provides us with the understanding of each individual rescue to match them to your family lifestyle and dynamics. As soon as we receive your application back, we will phone you to set up a home visit/meet & greet. If you are out of our area, we would request another rescue and/or veterinary office complete the home visit.

All of our rescues are completely vetted prior to adoption. Also, completed prior to adoptions are heartworm treatments as needed, any medical conditions treated (IE; allergies, demedex, etc.) and any surgeries for dogs coming into the rescue injured (IE; car accidents, etc.). Below is the vetting that all of our rescues receive prior to adoption. We only pull dogs from shelters and approximately 80% of our rescues come into the rescue heartworm positive. Those rescues are treated for heartworms prior to adoption.

Vetting;   adults; 1~7/1's DA2PPvL   Booster 7/1 30 days after arriving DA2PPvL   puppies; 3~7/1's DA2PPvL   Booster 7/1 @ 6 months DA2PPvL   adults & puppies;   bordetello vaccine  rabies vaccine & tag   microchip & tag   Pyrantel (twice)   heartworm tested @ 6 months or older   fecal tested   Spayed/Neutered   Heartworm Preventative (every month they are in rescue)   Flea preventative (every month they are in rescue)   New collar & tags  4Health Grain Free White fish & Potato

We do complete home visits prior to being approved. They are not designed to turn adopters down, but to point out safety issues for this breed. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
