Approximate DOB 07/10/2006

Size - About 20 lbs maybe- just Beagle size

History- Delila showed up as a stray at a local shelter. She had a large bleeding tumor on her belly. The shelter posted her on their page right away hoping to get her out and into a rescue as soon as her stray hold was up. She needed medical. We said ok that we would take her and at that time she went to one of our vets o be seen and unfortunately her heart was so bad they opted that getting her on heart medications was a bigger concern as if she went under anesthesia she probably wouldn't have been strong enough to make it out. So she was put on 2 heart medications. Soon she got here to our place and we noticed the tumor looked even worse so we took her to our local vet and they were able to remove it. She has a few other tumors but as of right now we are leaving them alone as her blood work showed she was anemic and we were concerned it would be too much for her body to handle. Since her surgery she is doing great!!! So much more active and happy..

Temperament- Very sweet, gentle, and happy

Energy Level- Low level energy

Dogs/Cats- Good with the other dogs and cats

Housetrained- House trained - we let them out every 3-4 hours but she will also have accidents. Thankfully I have all tile and for the most part she makes it on the puppy pads we keep down.. I don't think she was a house dog prior to coming here. For the most part though she goes outside but there are times when she just potties in the house without a care in the world..

This sweet old girl would love a home of her own with a person that would love to just sit with her on the couch and pet her.. She loves attention but isn't overly needy.. She will come up for attention sometimes and be ind of pushy but for the most part she will just lie next to me and then I will pet her.. But I think she would love to have her own person to love and spoil her as I really do think that she was just one of those dogs who are left outside their whole life with little to not attention.. She is happy and will mosey around the yard or hang out on the couch or on a dog bed.. she isn't real loud though once in a while she will bay but not a lot it is very seldom. She would make a great addition to any family wanting to give an older girl a happily ever after for the time she has left

About Almost Home NM

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a newly formed rescue in Peralta, NM. We are still very small and currently in process of getting our 501c3 tax exempt status. It is mainly just myself, my two daughters and a small group of volunteers. We only take in animals from shelters who are scheduled to be put down. All animals are housed in my home and on my property. We started this rescue due to the simple fact that there are so many wonderful dogs dying everyday at the shelters because there just isn't enough room.We do not discriminate against any breed. Every dog has the potential to be a great family pet, working dog, or therapy dog- just as every dog has the potential to become a "dangerous dog" due to the simple fact that they all (or most anyway) have teeth and can bite when provoked or trained to obey their owners commands.
We do it for the love of the animals and the need to find forever homes for the ones impounded due to no fault of their own.

Our Adoption Process...

If you are interested in adopting from us but have questions please feel free to e-mail me.

In order to start the application process you must send us an e-mail request for an application. We will e-mail it to you as soon as possible. Then just fill it out and send it back via e-mail. Once we receive it then we can schedule an appointment for you to come out and meet the animals.

We are not an open to the public facility with specific hours of operation. We are a foster home and therefore require an application submitted before an appointment can be made and directions given out.

If you would like to adopt from out of state then you must be willing to come out to meet and adopt the pet you are interested in.. We do not ship pets nor will we meet someone somewhere.. We want adopters to come out and spend at least an hour with this pet in their environment before adopting just to ensure there is a connection. We would hate for the adoption to not work and be so far away.
