Percy is a small red gentleman who came to us after being surrendered to a shelter due to skin issues, upper-respiratory infection, and dental needs. We've been addressing these issues one at a time. Currently, Percy has recovered from his upper respiratory illness, which is great news- it means he can use his energy to continue working on his skin and coat. Thanks to decent nutrition and supplements Percy's skin is improving tremendously. He still has a long way to go, but he's a strong guy and a good sport about it. Percy also has terrible dental health. We are almost certain he will need a full-mouth extraction to take care of the decay and infection, but he will feel much better once that is taken care of and has a chance to heal. It's not uncommon in older Dachshunds, and it generally results in no loss of appetite; often they eat more when there is no pain or bad taste, and a hungry doxie can still lick up and eat kibbles with the best of them! We are waiting for Percy to build his general health and energy reserves before we stress his system with the dental surgery, but we will update you when that happens. Meanwhile, Percy is a good boy who is active, enjoying good food and a nice home, and we are very optimistic about his continued improvement!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.
