Lizzie Jacobs's Story...
Thank You Lizzie Jacobs!
Due to the generosity of an amazing young supporter, Lizzie Jacobs, who wanted to do something meaningful in honor of her two rescue dogs, Joyful Rescues was able to save more precious lives! Lizzie tells us, 'I named this transport in honor of my two rescue dogs, Miles and Sadie. When I visited Joyful Rescues for the first time I saw a very special and unique type of rescue. Just to name a few reasons why Joyful is so special: the dogs have no deadline for when they need to be adopted, they receive top notch healthcare, food, love, and time outdoors to run and play (as opposed to being locked in a crate all day which is standard at many rescues and shelters). There is so much need for a place like Joyful Rescues and that is why I wanted to sponsor a transport.' ~ Lizzie Jacobs Thank you Lizzie! Miles and Sadie are very blessed to have a mommy who has so much compassion for homeless animals!
Lizzie Jacobs was born about October 22, 2015 and may top out in the 55 lb. range. Wow! This girl is a beauty and she is as fun and friendly as she is gorgeous. She does seem to be higher energy and loves playing with the other dogs. A quiet home is not going to fit this out-going personality. Her long coat is amazing to run your fingers through, but you need to be well prepared for fur balls in your house and the fashion addition of dog hair on your clothes. She is fun, happy, playful, sweet, and just a lot of fun! Please understand that we have no prior knowledge of this dog and we will be learning as we go and so will you. Update from her Foster Mom:
Guess what??? Woo Hoo!!! I am house trained!!! I go out in the yard with all of the other dogs here, and go Hurry Up, just like my foster people tell me to!! I got that down!!
I'm large and lovable. They have been teaching me sit and down. I've got sit, quite well, but I'm still working on down. I'm so sorry that I have to tell you that I like to jump on people, but these people are all over my case about me not jumping! They put their knee up to my chest, and I'm starting to get it.
I LOVE to play with other dogs!!! I love to chase and pin them all in good fun, but the tricky part here, is all of the dogs that live here are LITTLE and OLD!!!! They are just not interested!! I'm behaving myself if they squirt me with a tiny bit of water when they say no, because the old small dogs are wimps!!
I would love a home with at least one young, playful, and larger dog. I love to sleep in my crate with a super soft cozy bed at night and when the foster mom leaves for 4.5 hours a day. One other small request I have is that if you have another dog, I should eat in my crate at first because my food thrills me and I don't want to forget to use my nice manners.......
The people here have tried to walk me, and broke it gently to me that, I do in fact need work on leash walking!! Maybe one of those weird non pull harnesses would work. In my defense however, I was very good in the car from PetSmart to my foster home which was about 25 minutes, and I've had some car field trips since then and have passed with flying colors!!
Overall, in my opinion, I feel I am passing with flying colors in everything! I will just need my new people to keep up with my obedience training, my manners with other dogs, and my leash training!!! Love, Lizzie
The Adoption Fee for this dog is $375.00
Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.
Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.
YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES
We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.
Our primary goals here at Joyful Rescues are to re-home pets and save them from becoming homeless in the future, educate the public on pet care and spaying/neutering to control the pet overpopulation, to spay/neuter every pet before they leave us and spay/neuter as many pets, belonging to the public, as possible within our means.
