My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Big Bertha arrived at the shelter in late September, looking like anything BUT a stray cat, given her size. She certainly looked like she'd been eating well, and asked that we refer to her as "big boned," rather than F-A-T. She's a darling with her human friends, likes to be held and loved, purrs heavily and gives us her rather expansive belly to pet and stroke. She's not crazy about other cats -- she doesn't really socialize with them, preferring instead to hop up on a cushy chair to nap between pets from her human companions. She doesn't fight with them, but she will make her voice heard if one gets in her space. She will be fine in a home with other cats, as long as the other cats are like her, and keep their distance from each other. She will learn to blend in, just like she has at the shelter. Bertha did not test well with dogs, so a home with no dogs is called for. But her very sweet disposition makes her a suitable companion for homes with children.

Bertha is estimated to be 7 years old, is box-trained, spayed, current on vaccinations, and tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia. Adoption fee for adult cats is $50 (cash or check only, please). For more information on Bertha, or an adoption application, email ClayvilleCritters@cox.net, call the shelter at (401) 647-7200, or visit the shelter during regular hours: Tue, Wed, Fri 7 to 11 a.m., Thursday 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
