Bernie is a timid little dude with a rough past filled with neglect. He was rescued from a hoarding situation where he was left chained outdoors 24/7 with no human interaction and was fed when someone remembered to give him some scraps. However that hasn’t stopped him from learning how to love! He is sweet and shy and slow to warm up but once he knows you, he loves to be loved! Bernie would be best in a house with no small children. He does well with other dogs, but would prefer a mellow or smaller pup as a house mate. Unfortunately, due to his lack of early socialization and exposure to new experiences, sometimes Bernie is still scared by loud noises and quick movements. Because Bernie spooks easily, he will need to be in a very secure yard, and on a leash at all times when he is outside. Bernie loves to just hang out in little nooks or in his bed as it helps him feel more secure. He loves walks, and gets very excited for meal time. Bernie is very gentle, sweet and quiet and needs someone who is the same.
