Facts about Acorn

  • Breed: Miniature Mix
  • Color: Paint
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Small
  • Sex: Female
Acorn is the smallest mare from Jackson TN. She is one of the RRR horses and lucky to be alive. She is probably pregnant (all the mares were with stallions). She is absolutely beautiful and very small. She has some lameness in her front legs and is another one of the mares with stringhalt. She and several of the other horses from this cruelty case have some classic symptoms of stringhalt caused by trying to eat plants that are not safe for horses. This has caused her to have an abnormal gait in her back legs but is not a sever case and is not causing any type of balance issues. She should make a full recovery now that she is in a safe environment getting proper nutrition. We will be addressing her front leg issues to determine if it is related to her hoof care needs or something else like arthritis. She is one of the shy ones and will need some extra TLC to learn to trust people an be a friend again. She is available to foster and is up to date on shots and coggins.

About East Tennessee Miniature Horse and Donkey Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a 501c3 rescue that is dedicated to helping miniature horses, donkeys and mules to help prevent them from going to auction. Our goal is to help people understand how to care for minis and know that we are here to help. Donations are used to feed, shelter, provide medical care, transport, farrier costs and site visits. We do not receive any grants so we rely on your help. Together we can do big things for these little equines.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Located on a small farm in Loudon TN, we request you call a head in order to set a meet and greet time with our minis. We want you to come and see what this little equines are all about and help spread the word about miniatures in need. We do go to local events through out the year and you can keep up with us by checking our website and looking at our event page.

Our Adoption Process...

Adoptions require references, a veterinary contact that will be caring for your new mini, and a site visit. You must be 18 years or older and must be adoption for yourself or immediate family. On our site visits we are looking for safe fencing, a simple shelter, and access to fresh water and limited pasture. Our adoption fee is 250 with a discount for multiple animals adopted and those with special needs. WE DO NOT ADOPT MARES TO HOMES WITH STALLIONS AND OUR CONTRACT IS A NO BREEDING CONTRACT
