Hi! My name is Marmalade and I'm indeed as sweet as my namesake, not to mention just as rich an orange color. I'm a very affectionate boy kitty, I like to play, and I won't say no to a cozy cuddle. What's not to like about me! I was adopted, but then I began to experience difficulties walking, even collapsing unexpectedly, leaving me briefly helpless. My muscles just didn't seem to do what I told them! Back at Cat Adoption Team the hospital ran lots of exams and tests, but nothing stood out to explain what was happening. Currently, they're consulting with neurological experts in California about me. Meanwhile my condition seems to have stabilized since I moved into a loving foster home and started receiving daily prednisolone. With this supportive care I'm walking better, though still a bit wobbly, I can run a bit, do stairs carefully, and even jump on the couch with a great deal of forethought, and I still love to play (and no cat does a better meerkat routine than me). My skills as a snuggler have never been better. I still occasionally collapse, though, and the immediate problem is that sometimes this happens when I'm trying to get to the litter box. Most of the time I reach it in time to pee, but for bowel movements not so often, though it's more often close to the litter box than not.

Because I love people I'm still looking for a home of my very own, one that really is forever. I am as sweet, loving, and playful as ever and otherwise a normal young cat (not to mention pretty handsome, if I do say so myself). I'd do well too in a family with respectful children, but prefer no other cats, thank you. Know too that I take my medicines easily, am a cinch to handle, and do love to eat. I'm mostly a very happy cat, and I smile when I'm happy! However, my future family needs to understand that at this point no one knows how this peculiar condition of mine is going to play out, and that meanwhile I will need support for my special needs and they will need patience and flexibility. Most especially I will need love, but love is one the thing I'll be able to give back beyond anything than you can imagine. Will you be there for me?

About Cat Adoption Team

About Our Shelter...

The Cat Adoption Team (CAT) is the Pacific Northwest’s largest non-profit, limited-admission cat shelter with its own full-service on-site veterinary hospital. CAT works with our community to find loving, lifetime placement for homeless cats and kittens in need. The cats available for adoption from CAT come to us through public surrender and through partnerships with local county shelters, rescue groups and veterinary offices. CAT works to take in cats that might otherwise be euthanized. CAT saves close to 3,000 lives per year and relies heavily on the support of private donations and generous volunteers. Thank you for visiting our site and helping us save lives!

The Cat Adoption Team requires all potential adoptive families to meet with a trained adoption counselor before adopting a cat. Families must complete an application and sign a contract, which outlines our organization's adoption guidelines. Individuals who are interested in adopting a cat or kitten are welcome to call our facility to discuss these guidelines before visiting our adoption center.

In order to give our kittens a strong, healthy start in life, and to minimize behavior problems by assuring that they are fully weaned and litter box trained, we do not adopt out any kitten until they are at least 8-10 weeks old. Kittens age 6 weeks and older may be available for pre-adoption. Please visit our website for details.
