Mikey came from another rescue with 3 other family members. When we went to pick him up he was hiding under the  persons bed and it took 30 minutes for him to be caught. The panic that  this dog suffered broke our hearts. He was afraid of everything and everyone. He was also extremely overweight.

It's taken time, but Mikey is now a trimmed down happier pup. He doesn't hide from anyone and even hangs out with big dogs without being afraid. Mikey has learned that humans can be trusted and even let visitors hold him and give him a massage and pets at our last adoption event. This is one sweet guy! As with all of our dogs, Mikey loves a schedule. He knows when it is cookie time and if we forget he's happy to let us know.

Mikey should go to a quiet home with older children only. He's fine with cats and other animals.

Mikey needs patella (knee surgery) surgery and a dental. We are working on raising funds to pay for his needs. We need to raise $900.

Once he's all fixed up, his adoption fee is $300. He's neutered, up to date on shots, microchipped and crate trained.

To get the process started, or to arrange for a private meet and greet, please fill out an online application.

About The Rescued Pup

About Our Rescue Group...

The Rescued Pup is an all breed, all size, all age rescue. All of our dogs come from high-intake / low funded shelters, or other situations where they are at risk of being euthanized.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our pets stay in homes with their foster families and are located mainly in San Diego County, CA. An application is required to visit our pets.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process is broken down into 4 steps.

Step 1 begins with filling out an application.

Step 2 is a meet and greet with your family members/roommates and existing dogs. (Puppies under 4 months of age will not meet existing dogs)

Step 3 is a home visit. Where we verify the following:
~Where will the dog sleep
~Where will the dog be kept when no one is home
~Where will the dog play

Step 4 is the final step and is when you sign the contract and pay the adoption fee.
