Blue's Story...
Blue is a 5-year-old Chihuahua mix, with one blue eye, one brown eye, and beautiful brindle smooth coat! He was surrendered to the NCAS in early June after his owner had to move. This is a sad story we hear all too often :( Blue appears to have been very well taken care. He is very laid back, but also likes to play, and has a big personality. He enjoys other dogs, but is easily entertained on his own. He loves toys of all types! He also does very well in a car, either staying in a dog bed, or looking out the window. Blue is completely house and crate trained. He sleeps with his foster human at night, and happily spends time in his crate for about 9 hours a day while the human is working. He loves little fleece blankets and a comfy dog bed. He enjoys walks and play time, so would prefer a home where there is time to both play and relax. He does not appear to have any trust issues with humans, but will stay clear of other dogs when they are too rambunctious for his taste. Overall, extremely adaptable to a new environment. He weighs about 14 pounds.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Blue, a St Helena Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in St Helena, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in St Helena.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St Helena already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St Helena breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St Helena paves the way for another one to be saved.
