Hello friends!
Thank-you for clicking on my picture! My name is Peter and I am a 9 year old neutered male Poodle mix who came to the kind people at NBS Animal Rescue when I was found as a stray and ended up at the Macomb County Animal Shelter. The kind workers there contacted NBS Animal Rescue to help me find my fur-ever home and I've been super lucky to be staying with an amazing foster mom who takes great care of me!
I'm doing a great job of slimming down and getting back to a healthy weight by taking lots of daily walks, playing with toys and my foster brother, and eating a high quality dog food. The doggy doctor says that I do have a heart murmur but it's not something that requires medication - just to make sure that the doggy doctor checks it out at my yearly vet appointments. I am a super gentle and very handsome fella who is low key, mellow, and would make an excellent companion for someone looking to share their life with a furry friend like me.
I get along with most other mellow, friendly, and low-energy dogs, love spending time on your lap or next to you on the couch, going for walks, playing with toys, and snoozing in the sunlight as it comes through the door wall. My foster mom says that I am truly a gentleman in the house - I know how to do my personal business outside, meet new people kindly (especially if they have a tasty treat!), and am a fairly quiet guy unless it's my duty to let you know that someone is at the door of course.
I am looking for a fur-ever home with the following characteristics:
- A family who is away from home no longer than 5 hours at a time or has a concrete detailed plan of having a dog walker/day care for over 5 hours at a time.
- Children at least 10 years of age.

Here are the helpful steps in applying!
1.) Visit www.NBSAnimalRescue.com happy to adopt me. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you, and whatever other pets you have in the home to make sure we all get along. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to do the next steps too. : )
2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release info about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.
3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.
My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your vet). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.
