Facts about Bean

  • Breed: Pit Bull Terrier Mix
  • Color: Brindle - With White
  • Age: Puppy
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Female
Bean was rescued from a local South NJ shelter who was marked to be euthanized for failing her plastic hand test in her food bowl. She was very skinny and ate ravenously when we first met her- it's not a surprise she was "funny" with her food. However, NJAFA pulled her and put her immediately into training with a local board and train. For two weeks she was in "boot camp" and learned she didn't have to guard her food - we were giving her plenty and the good stuff! It does need to be said that between training and her foster home - neither reports any signs of guarding other than stiffening her body in the beginning. After her two weeks in training, she went to a foster home where her foster Mom puts her hands right in her bowl with no issues. Taking toys and bones right from her mouth and continued her basic training.
Bean is crate trained, housebroken; she knows off, sit, come & paw. Bean is a puppy with lots of energy and likes to test her limits so continuing training is a must for any potential adopter. The love and laughs Bean gives is worth the effort! She's no doubt a character! She has done great with a couple dog meets so she is dog friendly and she's been around a few cats, she showed interest but has had no reaction. We feel she would be ok with cats but with a puppy training is essential. Bean also is living with a guinea pig and likes to touch noses through the cage - again no major reaction.
If you're interested in adopting Bean and would like to schedule a meet please contact NJAFA and we'll set it up! A home with no small children would be ideal for Bean as she may be overwhelming to a toddler. Bean does have her own Facebook page: BeanNeedsAHome - check out her videos and pictures!
