Heidi -- Lovable Little Pup

Estimated date of birth - June 20th, 2016
Current weight (10/1/2016) - 5 lbs.
Estimated adult weight - less than 20 lbs.

This happy little girl is name Heidi. She is an awesome little puppy— extremely sweet and very friendly. She not only wags her tail when she is happy, she wags her entire body.
We believe she is a Schnauzer or a Schnauzer mix—it is hard to tell at this age: she is only about 14 weeks old. The people who turned her into the shelter said she was a Schnauzer but we didn’t get to talk to them so we don’t know much about her background and if they were sure or not. In any case, she is a super little pup.
Heidi loves to be cuddled, and will follow me around the house. She is fearless when it comes to playing with toys. She has no qualms about grabbing the biggest stuffed toy and “shaking it to death”.
Every day is a new adventure for her. Yesterday while on her “potty walk” she found a dried up shriveled leaf which she carried around with her. This morning her treasure was a soft down feather. This afternoon it was a twig that she carried around with her. She finds joy in all of these new treasures.

Heidi is still a baby and will need someone with dog experience to help her grow up to be a well-mannered, house trained dog. She has a good start on her house training, but she is still a baby so she can only “hold it” so long. She will need someone to invest the time and effort to ensure she is properly trained.

She is very smart and likes praise and so she should learn quickly. She has shown an interest in shoes if there are no doggy toys around—but will quickly drop the shoe if you tell her to drop it, and she will trade if you offer her a chew toy. So it will be a good idea to keep chew toys around on which she can focus her attention. She is a fun, loving little dog and will make an awesome addition to your family.

Foster Homes are needed in order to help more animals like this one. Please consider opening your heart and home to a homeless animal. Check out our website on how to become a Foster Parent! Visit www.FurryFriendsAnimalRescue.org and look under HOW TO HELP. Furry Friends provides veterinary care - you provide the home and love!.

We also need Volunteers for Adoption Events at Petsmart and Cage Cleaners.

Anyone interested in our dogs must be over 21. We are only able to adopt to homes within a reasonable driving distance of the dog's foster home and please be prepared for a home visit by one of our volunteers. We do not adopt on first-come-first-served basis, we want to make sure the dog is right for the family and vice versa based on what we know about the dog's personality, habits and behaviors. Our adoption fee for dogs is $175. You can complete an online adoption application on our website http://www.furryfriendsanimalrescue.org- we will get back with you asap.
