Umbrella of Hope 'Be Our Pet'

8 yr old, 8 lb Dachshund and Chihuahua Mix Neutered Male

Meet Mr San Benito County!

San Benito joined us in September from Solano County Sheriff's Office Animal Care Division where he had been waiting months for a new home.

This 8 yr old, 8 lb Dachshund and Chihuahua Mix Neutered Male is also vaccinated, microchipped, free of parasites and has had senior labwork. He had major dental work done that resulted in him needing all but 4 of his teeth pulled but he still eats dry food like a champ!

He will require an inexpensive pill for his thyroid once a day ($40/year) and we will send him to his new home with an entire year's worth of medication. He is in great shape but we feel with good nutrition and TLC he will just blossom!

His foster mom says he is a lover and is playful with other dogs. He is totally fine with cats and is great with children. He would be a great first-time dog and would fit in well with any sort of family arrangement.

FROM BENNY:  'My foster mom and I made a promise to each other, that she would let me spend time in her world, until I could find the perfect place in mine.

So I am trying to make her proud of me and find that place for me. I am San Benito and my mom calls me Benny, I like the name and come to it all the time. I am an easy going boy who lives with many other dogs and cats and we all gt along, so if you have others in your life, I am willing to share.

I am easy going and happy to sit near you as you rest, enjoy a good movie, even fold cloths, just like to have a blanket to crawl under. And even though I only have a couple teeth yet, my mom gets my dry food wet and I enjoy a good bowl of food. I am 8, but I love to go in the yard and run around, always searching for the perfect spot to be as my foster mom says 'Good boy”. It makes me happy when I make her happy and will wag my tag? Do you want to see how happy you can make me, come visit me and spend some time with me, and I will make you happy too.

Love,

Benny “the good boy”

Umbrella of Hope does not have any strict rules on ages of children because all children are different, but our best approximation is that this animal would do best with children over the age of 5

Umbrella of Hope is a non-profit animal rescue based out of Pittsburg, CA that rescues animals off death row from local shelters. We offer rebates of adoption fees after completion of obedience classes and CGC titles.

Also, ask us about our seniors for seniors program, where we adopt animals 5 years or older to qualified homes with a $5 donation as an adoption fee. All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for parasites and given any additional treatments (dental work, bloodwork etc) as recommended by our vet. Some of our senior animals have sponsorships for their food/vet care/medicine for the rest of their life at our vet in Pittsburg, CA (94565)

Adoptions to veterans of the US Armed Services are ALWAYS free to thank you for your service.  Other retired public servants, please let us know what career you retired from and we can let you know if we offer any discounts for your adoption

Please send an email to the Umbrella Of Hope Animal Director with any inquiries at beourpet@gmail.com. Detailed emails will be answered first.

We thank Maddie's Fund for their sponsorship, Well Pet Vet Clinic for providing most of our veterinary services, Lovely Grooming for our grooming needs, and Delta Dog Camp for training. We thank Memoirs of a Dog and Share the Joy Photography for the beautiful portraits of many of our animals and a special thanks to volunteer photographers Barbara, Kristy, Christine and Natalie.  Please support these businesses for supporting rescue!

To increase public awareness of homeless pets, encourage spay and neuter of companion animals, and promote adoption for the acquisition of family pets.
