Sam and Tammy's Story...
Sam and Tammy are adult Male and Female cockatiels. They are a bonded pair and must be adopted out together. Sam sings beautifully and loves to play with his toys. He is hand shy and aggressive in his cage, but we've been working with him on this and he is now used to coming out on a perch. Once he's out with you, he will step up with just a little complaining and hang out on your shoulder. Sam definitely needs patience and time, due to his seniority and being in a cage without attention most of his life...so it seems, but in time, he will be a great companion! Tammy is extremely mellow, but the sweetest little feather ball for sure! She will melt your heart!! She does startle easily, so you need to be aware of her surroundings as so if she flies, she doesn't hurt herself. Tammy likes everyone and is a beautifully hand tame bird. Although she is a bit shy at first, with time and patience, she will sit on your chest and let you scratch her head in no time. Tammy is 11 years old and Sam's age is unknown, as his previous owner took him in after his first owner passed away. They are being fostered in Hillsborough, NJ.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sam and Tammy, a Hightstown Cockatiel was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cockatiel for sale in Hightstown, or seeking a Cockatiel from a breeder in Hightstown.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Hightstown already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Hightstown breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cockatiel breeders who help with Cockatiel rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Hightstown paves the way for another one to be saved.
