Facts about Sam and Tammy

  • Breed: Cockatiel
  • Color: Gray
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Male
Sam and Tammy are adult Male and Female cockatiels. They are a bonded pair and must be adopted out together. Sam loves to sing (beautifully at that) and play with his bells. So far we've heard Pretty Bird (whistle style), his own little whistling medley and a siren rendition. Lol... He's quite the singer! He is hand shy and aggressive in his cage, but we've been diligently working with him on this and he is now used to coming out on the perch. Once he's out with you, he will step up with just a little complaining...not much at all. Tammy is a bit timid at times and will fly if startled by something sudden. Her wings are clipped, so she doesn't really get height and is a slow flyer...but you still have to be aware of her surroundings as so if this happens, she doesn't hurt herself. Tammy likes everyone and is a beautifully hand tame bird. She is a bit shy at first, but with time and patience, she will sit on your chest and let you scratch her head in no time. Tammy is 11 years old and Sam's age is unknown, as his previous owner took him in after his first owner passed away. They are being fostered in Hillsborough, NJ.

About For The Love Of Birds

About Our Rescue Group...

For the Love of Birds is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of companion birds. We are a network of volunteers throughout New Jersey, and surrounding areas. We take in birds in need of new homes, and place them in nurturing and educational foster homes until a loving new family is found.

Our Adoption Process...

The adoption procedure begins with completing an adoption application and returning it to us. We will check your references and then call you for a telephone interview. While we check your references, we will ask that you review an educational power point presentation. After your application is approved, it is our policy that you visit with the bird(s) three times to have multiple interactions with them and give you time to consider the adoption and get ready for your new family member. There is an adoption fee for each bird.
