Midge's Info...

Midge's Story...
Miss Midge appears to be about anywhere from 2-4 years old but she is a high energy puppy at heart! She's got very short legs and a stocky body and an overly puppy appearance, despite being an adult. She'll be a forever puppy! Those ears and her adorable nature makes her a joy and brings us so many laughs! If we had to guess at her breeds, she appears to be a border collie/rat terrier mix. She came in underweight, but about 25 lbs. It appears that 30 lbs will be a little healthier for her.

Midge showed up in a shelter as a stray and did not appear to have lived in a home ever. She didn't know "sit" and cowered whenever we'd call her for a "here" or "come". Even though she has shown some initial fear if people come walking up to her too fast, she has never once growled or shown any form of aggression. After realizing she won't be hurt, she LOVES to be as close as possible to her people. If we had to guess what her life was like, it appears she lived closely with other dogs, so either outside in a kennel or running around outside. She is quickly learning though as she has a strong desire to stay close to her person and LOVES treats!

She is great with other dogs and enjoys play bowing to ask other dogs to play and has very appropriate dog language. She goes to doggie daycare every day and plays with her friends. Her ability to ready other dogs is tip top and she just backs down away from those that either don't like her or aren't her preference. She has ignored the cats so far.

She needs to stay with her foster Mom a little longer as she does have heartworms. Applications can be sent in, but she should be ready to go to her forever home by mid to late November. She currently is being fostered just north of Greensboro, NC in Madison, NC.

Midge would be a great companion for a
1) A family with or without children (so far she's been great with them!) that was very active on a daily basis
2) A family with at least one other dog to play with her
3) A family that wanted to do agility or other sports with her (know that she needs more obedience)

Please visit the website at www.prbcr.org and complete an application.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Midge, a Charleston Border Collie/Rat Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie/Rat Terrier for sale in Charleston, or seeking a Border Collie/Rat Terrier dog from a breeder in Charleston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Charleston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Charleston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie/Rat Terrier breeders who help with Border Collie/Rat Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Charleston paves the way for another one to be saved.
