Tail's is a 2-3 year old little sweetheart who is misunderstood. He originally arrived to us back in June as a stray. The police who brought him into our facility stated that they had brought him home to his owners numerous times and that he was always left chained in the back yard with no interaction. He would actually run away to the park to be by the children. His owners never came to claim him and so we worked on finding him his forever home. He did get adopted, but returned due to what the adopters thought was their other dog being a little too much for Tails as he is just starving for attention due to his past. He does have a few issues he has that requires someone that is patient and willing to be slow with him, but stern and consistent. He gets very attached to people even upon first meeting them which shows that he is very protective and due to him being shuffled around in life and not being brought up the right way like a normal dog should be. He is extremely sweet and good at drawing you in with his sweet smile and sad eyes ! Tails has had such a hard beginning to his life and so he deserves the best home. He is still young yet and has a long life ahead of him to learn what it feels like to be able to live like a normal dog and be spoiled. Please come meet this sweet heart and consider taking him home with you:) it would be ideal for him to go to a one person home or with a couple that have experience with dogs and have the time to work with him and possibly bring him to obedience course's which would do wonders for him!

Tails's adoption fee is $275 + tax and includes micro-chipping!

All adoption's are subject to approval.

All animals are current on their vaccination based on their age and time at the shelter. Some animals may require boosters. Please note: MN state law requires rabies vaccinations be given by a licensed veterinary. Because FOA does not have a full time vet on staff, some animals may not have had their rabies shots.

About Friends of Animals Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

Our goal as a shelter is to reduce the number of stray pets on our streets and make sure they have somewhere safe and warm to stay until they find their forever homes. We highly encourage micro-chipping and spaying and neutering which also helps the high stray population to be reduced. Friends of Animals Humane Society is dedicated to providing care and treatment to dogs and cats located in various portions of Carlton County. We strive daily to not
only help them in a time of need, but to improve their lives by finding them their forever homes. Every animal deserves a second chance to live a happy and healthy life. The purpose of this organization is to create a humane and sustainable community for all animals, through education, advocacy and the promotion of respect and compassion.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process starts with filling out an adoption application specific to a dog or cat. There is a 24 hour turn around on the approval process. Once approved, a contract must be read and signed, along with health alerts. Anybody wishing to adopt from Friends of Animals must be 21 years of age to do so. Our current adoption fees for our cats are $90 for kittens (under 1 year old), and $60 for adult cats. There are usually a few longer term or older cats whose fee is $30. The current fees for our dogs vary. They range from $250 and up, dependent on several factors such as age, type, size, etc. All cats leaving the shelter must be in a pet carrier. And all dogs leaving the shelter must be on a leash.
