**Monty is currently being fostered in Houston. He is available for out-of-state adoption to the perfect forever family! Unfortunately, meeting Monty in person prior to his adoption will not be possible. His adoption fee is $500USD, which will cover his transport to his new home and he is of course fully vetted. Because the flights are so expensive, the adoption fee is non-negotiable. **

Monty caught our eye at the local animal shelter. He had been picked up as a stray and was in pretty rough shape. He had a non-contagious skin infection that caused him to lose a great deal of his fur. He had parasites and was just miserable. We scooped him up, got him a good scrub, some good food, and got him on the path to health. Once he started feeling better, he turned into the happiest dog a family could ask for!

Monty is a roughly 8-month old Shepherd mix, he is currently about 35 pounds, but should be in the mid 50-pound range once he is fully grown. He is still a big straggly as he continues to get healthy from his life on the streets, but he is growing into himself!

Monty is a happy and active young dog and should be adopted into a family that can offer him an active lifestyle with the exercise he needs to properly burn off his energy. He would make an amazing running, hiking, camping partner. He loves to play with other dogs and would be ideal for a house that already has another dog or in a family that would continue his dog socialization. He currently lives with dogs ranging in size from 8 pounds to 80 pounds. He has not been tested with cats. He would be great in a family with children that are respectful of and gentle with animals.
Monty should be adopted by a family that understands he had a life on the streets before coming into rescue and it may take him a few weeks to acclimate into his new life. He has done really well with his house and potty training, but could have an accident or two as he adjusts to his new forever family. He should be adopted by a family who will use positive reinforcement to help him become an amazing adult dog. Monty should be adopted by a family that plans to keep him indoors as a member of the family and not leave him outside for extended periods of time, for example during the workday. We do not adopt to situations where the dogs will live primarily outside.

Monty is fully vetted (vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and dewormed) and is heartworm negative. He has been on both flea and heartworm prevention since coming into rescue. He has no residual issues from skin infection and has no known health or allergy issues.

The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an application which can be found on our website If you hover over the “adoptables” tab, the application will appear for you. Our team processes applications within 5 business days of receipt and we can usually have adoptions finalized within 7-10 days. Adopters should be in a position to pay the adoption fee and take possession of the dog within 14 days of application.

About Reggie's Friends- Vancouver

About Our Rescue Group...

Reggie’s Friends was founded out of our love for helping dogs. Living in a city of 1.2 million homeless animals, there was rarely a day when we didn’t see a dog in need of help. Instead of just wanting to do something, we figured out how to do something! Reggie’s Friends is dedicated to the health and welfare of dogs in and around the greater Houston, TX area. We focus our attention on helping shelter dogs, street dogs, and dogs who have been abandoned in boarding facilities find loving, forever families.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process begins with an adoption application. Our team will take some time to review it and once approved, a home visit is required. We require an adoption contract and an adoption fee to be paid prior to the pet joining their new family.
