My name is Sasha. I am available for adoption through Colorado Canine Rescue (CCR), a nonprofit dog rescue located in the Denver area. I came to CCR from Texas. There is very little history on me. CCR has been told I am a Shepherd breed mix, but that is just a guess made by shelter staff, rescue volunteers, and our veterinarians.
Sasha is a smaller shepherd mix, about 50 lbs., 5 years old. She is low heartworm positive and being treated. CCR will continue to pay for treatment until she is heartworm free. Having heart worm only means right now that she cannot go for strenuous hikes or runs. Sasha still has a lot of love and companionship to offer. She is kennel trained, house trained, (but in a new environment accidents can always happen). She growls when she is playful. Sasha did not play with the other dogs when she first came to the foster home, but has learned it can be fun! Sasha does love her toys. She gets along with dogs except those that can be rather bossy. She would do ok as an only dog, for all that one on one love, but it isn't necessary if she found a great buddy. She would love to have a yard, but she is a rather quiet girl, and as long as she would get moderate exercise on a regular basis she would do well. Her goal is to be with you and be loved. Sasha has not been kid tested, but seems best suited for teenage and up, only because of her age and not being used to little ones. She would need to be cat tested if you have a cat.
She came to the foster home with lots of hair loss, but that is coming in nicely. The best we could figure at this point is she and fleas do not get along! Her teeth are worn from all those years of nibbling but several vets feel there is no need to do anything with the teeth because it is not painful. Just because she has a little wear and tear on her does not diminish what a great dog she is, and what she can offer in companionship!
If you are interested in adopting Sasha, please submit an adoption application located on our website, www.coloradocaninerescue.org. We are asking for a $175 adoption donation for Sasha. Please note, CCR cannot guarantee the breed composition or ages of our dogs as we usually have no history prior to them entering the shelter.
