I have a few weird quirks, but started to overcome them in my foster home. I have never had a home of my own, but once I know I'm safe, I will bond very deeply with you. I'm a very sweet boy and LOVE to cuddle with my human.
I'm not hyper and actually am quite mellow. I was found as a puppy and have lived in a kennel type of environment for most of my life. Because Tobey prefers a quiet space, we don't recommend young children at this time.
Tobey came from a small private rescue org. in New Orleans. The founder of the org. suddenly and tragically committed suicide and all of the dogs were left behind. We took Tobey in here and incorporated him into our group of dogs. He spent a few months with a trainer where he was able to get over some of his quirks from his past, but will still need additional training.
Tobey is sensitive to change and that all stems from his background and previous life of having no guidance and direction. But, this little guy will endear himself to you - he has a sweetness about him that is hard to find. We think he would like to be the only dog because he's never really had anything of his own. However, he has spent a lot of time with groups of dogs - he has some toy possession, but it can be easily managed.
Tobey is extremely affectionate, not a chewer and really is happy just hanging out. He doesn't need a lot of exercise - just a home and a person to call his own. Tobey likes other dogs and if you are a runner, he trots along perfectly next to you. He loves to sleep and cuddle and will easily become a most cherished companion.
